Offscreen’s vision is to enable creative contact across the borders that so often lead us to conflict.
On a practical foundation of education, we aim to create a world in which young people of the Middle East and UK can meet and understand each others’ cultures.
Through our programme of activities we hope to spread a ripple of inspiration and understanding at a grass roots level; and in so doing to improve perceptions and impact positively on students and teachers from diverse backgrounds. The Offscreen Education Programme is currently involved in four main activities:
- Student Expeditions: Taking secondary school students to and from the Middle East and UK.
- View 2007 Expedition >
- Educational Resources: Developing online, digital and hard copy teaching resources for schools.
- Schools and Museums Workshops: Sending artists with Middle Eastern/Islamic backgrounds into schools to teach and inspire.
- View Gallery >
- International Artist Programme: Promoting contemporary artists from the Middle East and Islamic World.
In delivering these activities, Offscreen aims to develop replicable educational models which impact at a National Curriculum and even international level.
