Day 00: Pre-Expedition

Celebration Speeches - ‘OnScreen’ by Mohammed Daher

good evening everyone im mohammed daher from lebanon. Beofre I came to the uk i though i would have problems with everyone. I couldnt imagine myself in all the places that i went to and all the people that i met. I was in a restaurant one day having my lunch and there was a woman on the same table who asked me to watch her baby for 10 minutes, i know thats boring to be a baby sitter but thats not the point. My arabic features are obvious, and before i came here i thought the people, when they will see us, would run away saying terrorist or something like that, because thats what i was asked about in my visa application. What i want to say is that we must stop the previous judgments and let the kind people of wales, scotland, london, lebanon and the world be onscreen. Thank you.

Yasmin and Me, Day 00

Today Yasmin and I met for the first time. She’s big, bad but not ugly. She does look a little angry to have been woken up so early though. I have to admin I’m a little scared of her.

I’m very excited to be going with her on this adventure over the next two weeks and getting to know her along the way. Yasmin tells me that her local neighbourhood is Hackney, so she aint afraid of nothing!

As she relaxes in the morning sun, she becomes quite happy, almost acting like a show off. Yasmin had a new paint job yesterday and likes the new look. Over the next two weeks we’ll get to see what the rest of the UK think of her too.
