Aysha’s Impressions
Winning the offscreen competition made me really happy and excited. I always wanted to have an adventure on my own, and learn new things about the world. So I had the chance to go to the UK which i thought of it interesting because ive never been there. When I first arrived at Heathrew airport in London, which i had a different idea about it, i noticed that it is similar to our Bahrain National airport. I was looking at everyone working there and see their reaction when they saw the Arabian people comming to London. I found most of them friendly and helpful and smile at our faces, on the other hand i found others who were looking strangely at our traditional clothes. We also had some misunderstanding with a security lady who asked the boys a question and they havent heard what she said and walked away, so she told them that it was rude to ignore her this way, but they explained and she understood later on so i knew that she was kind.
This morning we were so excited. It was our first day in the UK and we had to go to the Royal Geographical society.the weather was wonderful but it was raining so we had to wear our rain jackets. we also had to do some funny things such as singing traditional songs as we were going to meet the UK students and tell them about our traditions, customs and civilizations so we start laughing at each other, and had to remind ourselves about our different tradtions. when we first arrived at the society we were amazed by the building and the painting. I also learnt things about georaphy which I thought it was pretty interesing because we saw a big number of map collection we have never seen before. then I met interesting students from the UK with whom we changed points of views about our countries. They left a good impression even though they had limited ideas of our countries so we had to add and change their uncorrect ideas. they confessed that they were totally amazed to know that our countries had such big changes. the most remarkable discussion when Mohammed fron the UAE spoke about the amazing progress which took place in Dubai in all fields. To tell the truth he had also spoken about some of the bad sides which astonished the British students I thought they were really friendly and looking forward to learing things about our countries and we encourged them to visit us. I think the explorers are amazing and brave men who had a spectacular journeys around the world and discovered some unbelieveable wonders of earth. I admit that everyone was really amazed about the whole thing and glad for being there.
