Omar Faroukh School for Girls (Beirut)
Mohammed Dhaher from Dr Nazih Bisri High School (Saida)
Offscreen are proud to announce that two Lebanese students, Abir Awad from Omar Faroukh School for Girls in Beirut and Mohammed Dhaher from Dr Nazih Bisri High School in Saida have been chosen from 100s of potential candidates to take part in the 2008 Offscreen student expedition to the UK.
These students, chosen because of their creative and artistic potential, will now join six other young artists from UAE, Oman and Bahrain to take part in the pioneering project in July this year. The project is being run in partnership with HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, the British Council and Gulf Air.
Having entered their artwork into a competition, shortlisted students were interviewed by Jamie Buchanan Dunlop (Offscreen founder), Fatme Masri (British Council) and Leila Sidani (HSBC). The photos here show a selection of artworks and photographs entered into the competition alongside photos from the interviews.
Many thanks to Leila, Forough and Kaltham (HSBC) and Fatme and Amy (British Council) for all their help.
